{"id":1200,"date":"2013-06-03T08:33:46","date_gmt":"2013-06-03T13:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roseledgebooks.com\/blog\/?p=1200"},"modified":"2013-06-03T09:58:51","modified_gmt":"2013-06-03T14:58:51","slug":"hello-from-tenants-harbor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/roseledgebooks.com\/blog\/?p=1200","title":{"rendered":"HELLO FROM ROSELEDGE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re here, the <a href=\"http:\/\/roseledgebooks.com\/blog\/?page_id=70\">webcam<\/a> is on and, after two mornings of coffee on the front porch, I can report that life in Tenants Harbor just gets better and better.<\/p>\n<p>The lobster boats are in today maybe because it is windy or it is Sunday or lobster prices are low or it might storm or who knows?\u00a0 A few walkers-by were out &#8211; one I knew anjd one I met; one sailboat was already on an overnight mooring; and a visitor nearby enjoyed his dog &#8211; a dachshund\/doberman mix (yes!) &#8211; leaping in our jungle lawn trying to catch a mouse or vole or something else moving.\u00a0 I wanted to hire the dog.\u00a0 Then Charlie mowed the lawn, and a dreaded chipmunk (think gnawed pvc-pipe) rushed out and\u00a0 frolicked across Sea Street into the recently unearthed rock pile.\u00a0 (See left on the <a href=\"http:\/\/roseledgebooks.com\/blog\/?page_id=70\">webcam<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-lZWIdVtTZsA\/TVH6pRhlJ9I\/AAAAAAAAC-Y\/lpa7jeas3R0\/IMG_9517.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1200]\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-lZWIdVtTZsA\/TVH6pRhlJ9I\/AAAAAAAAC-Y\/lpa7jeas3R0\/h480\/IMG_9517.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_9517.jpg\" width=\"420\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Like all Main Streets, a busy Tenants Harbor is always fun to watch. <\/p><\/div>\n<p>Thanks to Charlie, Roseledge has drained pipes, cold water, hot water, working computers, mowed lawn, and, beginning summer trash of used napkins from the nearby Bakery&#8217;s best-ever breakfast bagels.\u00a0 The refrigerator and stove are still in the living room, though the former is plugged in, and the nonfiction bookshelves still need to be restocked and replaced against the wall once the drowned wallboard is replaced.\u00a0 Charlie is thinking deeply (and snoring) about the next most important thing to do.\u00a0 We are invited out to supper again tonight, so summer shopping and the stove can wait a day.\u00a0 We found an unopened box of Tasteoos and the last of last summer&#8217;s coffee in the freezer, so unpicky folks that we are, we&#8217;re good for at least another day.<\/p>\n<p>No book news, but the current<strong> Down East Magazine<\/strong> features <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downeast.com\/magazine\/2013\/june\/home-kitchen-cafe\">Rockland&#8217;s Home Kitchen Cafe<\/a>, the new venture of the nifty team who made the nifty Roseledge Books t-shirts these last fifteen years.\u00a0 Cinnamon rolls were featured in the article, yum, and I am hoping for equally celebrate-able oatmeal.\u00a0\u00a0 More about books and an oatmeal report later.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-zcGmVhvwork\/TVH531RjtkI\/AAAAAAAAC6o\/-9UU5q7r8XE\/IMG_2452.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1200]\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-zcGmVhvwork\/TVH531RjtkI\/AAAAAAAAC6o\/-9UU5q7r8XE\/h480\/IMG_2452.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2452.jpg\" width=\"420\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">One more walkway up the hill and the granite steps of Roseledge beckon.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mostly we are getting ready for you all (and surely your numbers are legion) to come or come again and again to Roseledge Books.\u00a0 Two half-screens just blew out of the upstairs windows, so it&#8217;s time for me to awaken the troops and direct once again.\u00a0 Did I say it was windy?\u00a0 Did I say it was perfect?<\/p>\n<p>Welcome back to Roseledge Books.\u00a0 Let the summer fun and perfect reads begin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re here, the webcam is on and, after two mornings of coffee on the front porch, I can report that life in Tenants Harbor just gets better and better.
