{"id":1275,"date":"2013-07-29T14:56:43","date_gmt":"2013-07-29T19:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roseledgebooks.com\/blog\/?p=1275"},"modified":"2013-08-06T13:48:37","modified_gmt":"2013-08-06T18:48:37","slug":"and-the-living-is-easy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/roseledgebooks.com\/blog\/?p=1275","title":{"rendered":"&#8230; AND THE LIVING IS EASY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This was the week when special people bought Roseledge Books&#8217; special finds, so RB has the first bestsellers (3 copies sold) of the summer:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Farm Work, a catalog of Jamie Wyeth&#8217;s art<\/strong> includes an interview rewritten as if Jamie Wyeth were talking directly to the reader.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the closest thing I&#8217;ve seen to an anecdotal biography, much like <strong>Richard Meryman&#8217;s Andrew Wyeth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ray Bradbury&#8217;s Green Shadows, White Whale: A Novel of Ray Bradbury&#8217;s Adventures Making Moby Dick with John Huston in Ireland<\/strong> has it all for with-it sailors who love movies, Ireland, books and beer and who could never manage to get through the original <strong>Moby Dick<\/strong> between fogs.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-J7NW2SussvE\/TVH5p-S_z6I\/AAAAAAAAC5o\/iwiNTBamoWk\/IMG_1761.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1275]\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-J7NW2SussvE\/TVH5p-S_z6I\/AAAAAAAAC5o\/iwiNTBamoWk\/h480\/IMG_1761.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1761.jpg\" width=\"420\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">What makes Maine a best seller?  Boats and the sea and a memory.  Sigh.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>One shrewd browser found <strong>Lost Bar Harbor by G.W. Helfrich and Gladys O&#8217;Neill <\/strong>and knew its pictures would be useful for a biography he was writing about someone not usually linked to Bar Harbor<\/p>\n<p>Two shrewd browsers bought<strong> James McCracken&#8217;s Innocents at Sea<\/strong> and<strong> Charles and Carol McLane&#8217;s Muscongus Bay and Monhegan Island<\/strong> as gifts for people who knew the authors or who live in a place included in the book.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-_lth7EqffPY\/TVH57LXy8eI\/AAAAAAAAC60\/fMAf1D68FIs\/IMG_2458.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1275]\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-_lth7EqffPY\/TVH57LXy8eI\/AAAAAAAAC60\/fMAf1D68FIs\/h480\/IMG_2458.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2458.jpg\" width=\"420\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Do you like rock walls?  Roseledge Books may have another when you get here.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I&#8217;m still looking for new mystery series to ensnare the unwary into coming back year after year to get the latest paperback.\u00a0 Three earlier finds &#8212; <strong>Julia Spencer-Fleming, Harry Dolan,<\/strong> and <strong>Bruce DaSilva<\/strong> &#8212; do not have new paperback editions out this summer, so I&#8217;m looking still or again.\u00a0<strong> Elly Griffiths<\/strong> is a possible, and I&#8217;m reading<strong> Sara Gran&#8217;s Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead,<\/strong> which I like but know is not for everyone.\u00a0 A clue: Claire DeWitt is likened to Lisbeth Salander.
