{"id":150,"date":"2009-05-26T15:38:30","date_gmt":"2009-05-26T20:38:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roseledgebooks.com\/blog\/?p=150"},"modified":"2009-05-26T15:54:07","modified_gmt":"2009-05-26T20:54:07","slug":"summertime-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/roseledgebooks.com\/blog\/?p=150","title":{"rendered":"SUMMERTIME HAS COME AGAIN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re baaack and the webcam is beaming.\u00a0 It is so good to be here.\u00a0 Tenants Harbor is perfect as always.\u00a0 Charlie went down to the East Wind to get the stored computer (once we remembered where we had put it) and came back with a perfect cup of coffee in a perfect thermos.\u00a0 We had the first morning coffee on the porch, thought about returning the thermos sometime, maybe as a Christmas gift to Tim, watched the tide and counted lobster boats and moorings.\u00a0 We set the scooter on \u201chare\u201d (as opposed to \u201cturtle\u201d) and headed to Farmer\u2019s for breakfast and the Town Office to get the <strong>2008 Town Report<\/strong>, checked the General Store for\u00a0\u00a0 the <strong>Courier Gazette<\/strong>, and took the public-landing route home.\u00a0 Life could not be better.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_z6Mg7VzfQSU\/SJaevq7jC7I\/AAAAAAAAA00\/C1ZTNyeW0PA\/s576\/IMG_2539.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fig. #54.\u00a0 Porch waiting. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first Roseledge Books Regulars came by when they saw the front door open.\u00a0 The shelves of books were still behind the bamboo curtains, but\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0we could still realize that clearly they needed <strong>William Martin\u2019s The<\/strong> <strong>Lost Constitution<\/strong> for him to read as he drives her to New England golf tournaments and <strong>Lorne Ruberstein\u2019s A Season in Dornoch: Golf and Life in ther Scottish Highlands<\/strong> for her to read as she dreams in the off-season.\u00a0 I\u2019ll leave the books at the East Wind Inn for them to pick up next time they visit in October.\u00a0 Readers rule.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow the box of over-the-winter books I ordered but did not yet read arrives.\u00a0 I\u2019ll put them on the shelves and give droppers-in first dibs.\u00a0 I\u2019ll read what\u2019s left and reorder.\u00a0 They include my annual thriller bash.\u00a0 I just finished and liked, as always, <strong>Julia Spencer-Fleming\u2019s I Shall Not Want<\/strong>, sixth in the Chief Russ Van Alstyne-Reverend Clare Ferguson series.\u00a0 I\u2019m currently reading <strong>Lisa Jackson\u2019s Lost Souls<\/strong>, a mystery set in ever wet (apparently) Baton Rouge, LA, which is not a plus, with <strong>Lee Child\u2019s Nothing to Lose<\/strong> in the wings.\u00a0 <strong>Martha Grimes\u2019 Dakota<\/strong> is a must for the title alone.\u00a0 I \u2019ll let you know if she got God\u2019s Country right.<\/p>\n<p>Time to indulge in wishful thinking and try to organize Charlie.
