My boat lives the good like, moored, with lattes.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But surprise! surprise!\u00a0 I&#8217;m not filled with hot air, either.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>POETRY CLUB IS BACK,\u00a0 GROWING, AND ALWAYS A GOOD TIME!<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0With more than 5, but fewer than 10, we literati of the Landmark, led by the unflappable Gary, met on St Patrick&#8217;s Day. We were to have found to read three children&#8217;s poems. HAPPY EASTER TO ALL.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Next month &#8220;foreign poets&#8221; are the stars.\u00a0 After some discussion,\u00a0 the concept of a &#8220;foreign&#8221; poet remains iffy.\u00a0 Is a foreign poet an alien, weird, or strange or, as Mainers say, &#8220;from away?&#8221;\u00a0 Is place of birth key or\u00a0 current residence and for\u00a0 how long?\u00a0 If the poems are translated into English, is the translator considered a co-poet?<\/p>\n<p>Gary changed it to\u00a0 &#8220;Great Poets of the World.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I knew one fitting poem that I loved, <strong>&#8220;Possibilities&#8221; by Polish born, Nobel Prize winner Wislawa Szymbroska.\u00a0<\/strong> Whew!\u00a0 Finding perfect poems is never easy and only rarely casual, especially as my recent computer dependence calls for a trickiness I am new to.\u00a0 I knew\u00a0 &#8220;Possibilities,&#8221; with its litany of likes and dislikes, from\u00a0<strong>Umberto<\/strong> Eco&#8217;s\u00a0wonderful report of his time in the Louvre,<strong> An Infinity of Lists<\/strong>, which I had happened on, knew well and remembered from my page- turning days..<\/p>\n<p>Looking for variety and a second poet,\u00a0I spotted mention of a murder mystery by\u00a0Polish-born Nobelist <strong>Olga Tokarczuk titled , Drive Your\u00a0 Plow Over the Bones of the Dead<\/strong>, and thought &#8220;Aha! I&#8217;ll bet She wrote poems, too.&#8221;\u00a0 And she did.<strong>\u00a0 Cities of Mirrors\u00a0<\/strong>was her early and only book of poems. Apparently and unfortunately,\u00a0 only the title was translated, as the book is not available for my Kindle or in Amazon.\u00a0 This may have been a blessing, because Chapter 1 of the well-reviewed murder mystery about an aging loner&#8217;s world, where all animals do or should live respected and respectfully, was a big ho-hummer.\u00a0 Blame it on COVID crankiness.\u00a0 So I ordered<strong> Wislawa Szymborska&#8217;s collection titled Monologue of a Dog<\/strong> and have found several I like for poem 2.<\/p>\n<p>That leaves poem number 3.\u00a0 W.B.
