Big excitement here.\u00a0 We went to the zoo.\u00a0 \u201cFIELD TRIP!\u00a0 FIELD TRIP!\u201c Charlie chanted, inappropriately.\u00a0It was my first time on the city bus, albeit with a minder, and my first time wearing my safari-ish hat.\u00a0 Cristy, who is our fitness person, event planner, and my minder, asked me to write captions for the way-too-many pictures she was bound to take.\u00a0 I said I would make up an alphabet of the zoo trip, and she could decide what pictures to put with what letters. She agreed and also agreed to the 17 syllables of haiku \u2013 I think to control my rambling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>A is for ANTELOPES, pictured,<\/b> not grazing with zebras, giraffes, and?\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>First \u201clettered\u201d animal I did not see.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i>B is for BARNS<\/b> with tall doors for proud giraffes or raised cherry-pickers.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>I think.\u00a0 Nothing actually happened.\u00a0 Handsome structure, though.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i>B is for BUS RIDES<\/b> – – easy and fun, if curb cuts and sidewalks are near.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>And no fentanyl fumes! First trip [so to speak] on a city bus.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

C is for<\/b> CIRCLES<\/b>, with confused multitaskers coming and going.<\/span><\/p>\n

D is for DIETING, <\/b>which the TAPIR and RHINOS might want to try.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

E is for EATING<\/b> which many were,\u00a0 bending over, displaying rumps.<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

F is for FENCES<\/b> \u2013 many, mostly hidden, but comfortingly real.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

G is for GAZELLE, <\/b>antelope kin, big toothpick horns, and third grazer.\u00a0 \u00a0.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

G is for GIRAFFE<\/b>, nibbling high leaves, and leaving low leaves\u00a0 for shorties.<\/span><\/p>\n

H is for\u00a0 HALLELUJAH DAYS<\/b> with<\/span> questions raised and fresh air basked in.<\/span><\/p>\n

H is for HIDING<\/b> animals, which I would be, too, if I lived here.<\/span><\/p>\n

I is for IBEX:<\/b> long curved horns, antelope kin, not third grazer, ARGHH!. .\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Second \u201clettered\u201d animal I did not see.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0J\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>is for JUNGLE foliage<\/b>, which was claustrophobia-inducing.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>I am a prairie person, breathing best with a big sky.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i>K is for KIDS,<\/b> many, energetic, noisy, and oblivious.<\/span><\/p>\n

L is for LOST<\/b>, which we only once were.\u00a0 Tough herding oldies and cats.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Too many viewng\u00a0<\/em><\/span>\u00a0circles<\/em> with people-hiding foliage, off the black-topped path.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i>M is for the MANY OF US<\/b> who had a very good time.\u00a0 Yay day!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

N is for NONSENSE: <\/b>questions and\u00a0comments that make everything more fun.<\/span><\/p>\n

O is for OBSERVERS: <\/b>we<\/span> oldies-but-goodies, and kids, lots of k ids.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>And mothers with space-eating strollers, talking over my head.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>O is for ORANGUTANS, <\/b>who live, play and wear a blue shirt in trees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

R is for RHINOCEROS<\/b>,\u00a0 like submerged rocks in the waterhole.<\/span><\/p>\n

S is for the \u201cSCREW\u201d TREE<\/b>.\u00a0 Is it topiary art or Mother Nature\u2019s sense of humor?\u00a0 .\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I like sunlit space.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>[See \u201cJ\u201d and “L” above.]<\/span><\/i>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

V is for <\/b>pretty good<\/span> VIEWING, <\/b>better when it’s lower for chaired-folks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

W is for <\/b>Googled <\/span>WARTHOG, <\/b>with<\/span> \u00a0hoggy rump and canine teeth-tusks.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>[“W” herein is two syllables. Think “Dubya” and remember George W. Bush.]\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/i>The closest pictured animal was an anteater, which I did not see.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i>X marks the mapped meeting spots<\/b> that we MOSTLY reached.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Y is for YOU <\/b>because you\u2019re special and because the ZOO has no YAKS.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Z is for ZEBRAS<\/b> with same-striped fannies\u00a0 How do not-moms know who\u2019s who?<\/span><\/p>\n
