I mean <em>poof!<\/em> It was gone. \u201cError 403\u201d or \u201cError 404\u201d\u2019was all I got. No trash, no delete, no \u201csysop [Charlie] forgot,\u201d nothing. I figured, like taking away my curly hair, God smote me for the sin of pride because I had fun writing it. Charlie thinks the machines are paying me back for my mistreatment of them. I think it\u2019s the Russians, and I told Charlie not to pay the ransom. So here is my resurrection re-write, <em>sans<\/em> final edit embellishments.<\/p>\n<p>But first a note to my vanished post\u2019s 8 commenters: you are my heroes. Okay, I failed to include the mysteries of William Kent Krueger. I like him a lot, and with his Cork O\u2019Connor, WKK is to northern MN, as Paul Doiron is to ME, or as C.J. Box is to WY. Box, with his 4 generation heritage,\u00a0 is my go-to guy for Wyomig, especially with ranger Joe Pickett and wife, Marybeth, town LIBRARIAN!\u00a0 <strong>Sara does not like the Netflix? video option.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><b>The Cartographers, by Peng Shepherd,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is already on my partly-read list, and so far, it\u2019s a finisher.\u00a0 Mary Wagner recommended it to me, and she was an excellent recommender, but a mystery with maps would have caught my eye for at least a first thought.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><b>Desolation Canyon, by PJ Tracy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is the second of the author\u2019s works set in LA, a departure from the Minneapolis-based mysteries she co-wrote with her mom, who died recently.\u00a0 I often choose books\u00a0 for a location and its culture, and <\/span><b>Michael Connelly\u2019s Harry Bosch<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Joe Eid\u2019s I.Q.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are enough LA for me right now.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>The Counterclockwise Heart, by Brian Farrey<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is fantasy.\u00a0 I KNEW she\u2019d try to slip one by me.\u00a0 Too many other books I\u2019d rather read more.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>Two Storm Wood, by Phillip Gray<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, treads the ground and some of the mysteries of post -WWI carnage.\u00a0 For now, <\/span><b>Charles Todd\u2019s Inspector Ian Rutledge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s post-WW1 World is all I can stomach.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>Shadows Reel, by C.J Box<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is fun, just to anticipate.\u00a0 I\u2019ve already 1-click pre-ordered it. I love this series for many reasons, but one big one is his even-handed treatment of environmental issues.\u00a0 Only problem is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/ct-xpm-2000-07-28-0007280407-story.html\">Lynne Cheney, past spoiler-Director of the NEH<\/a> does, too. Likened by Scott Turow to<\/span><b> John Grisham\u2019s The Pelican Brief,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which I liked, and Ms. Abrams will know the government\u2019s ways of which she writes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Saratoga Paycheck by Stephen Dobyns<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 Herein,\u00a0 Charlie Bradshaw\u00a0 is retired, but not tired, and so am I.\u00a0 Great series, set in upstate NY, as is the <\/span><b>Clare Fergusson \/ Russ VanAlstyne series, by Julia Spencer-Fleming<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which I also like.
